Two red ends.
Four clear edges.

A checker border makes the whole rectangle easier to align against a white wall. The red–white–red–white–red centre has red at both ends.

Print, check, then measure

  1. Use colour printing, landscape, and 100% / Actual size. Disable “Fit to page” and browser headers and footers.
  2. Check the 0-to-10 marks below with a real ruler: they must be 10 cm apart. Check the reference itself too.
  3. Cut along the outside of the black border; keep the whole checker margin. Mount it flat, without folds.
  4. In the app, choose centimetres. Enter the measured full reference length and width: 20 and 4 if the print is correct.
  5. Place the reference on the same flat surface as the object. Drag the red box onto the four outside corners of the checker border.

The current automatic detector uses the older band pattern. Align all four corners manually for this design; do not use the inner red-and-white rectangle as the reference boundary.
